Purpose

Standardized Web page designs have been created to provide academic and administrative units of the University with a professional Web site design that maintains the University's graphic identity.

Recommended Software

To manage content and create pages, we recommend Macromedia Contribute. If you can create a Word document, you'll find Contribute easy to use.

For more advanced Web site development, use Macromedia Dreamweaver 8.

Official Graphic Bar

An official University of Pittsburgh graphic bar must be used at the top of University Web pages. The free template here implements the official bar.

Using the graphic bars reinforces the identity of the institution across all of the different Web sites maintained by schools, offices, and departments.

Placement

The graphic bar should appear at the top of the page, with no other content above it or appearing to be part of it.
